Week 9

In the beginning of the final week me and Marieke secured the bar to the ramp so that users can stand on the board safely and without hesitation. The problem we faced was that the bar needed to be fitted to the front of the ramp where there is not enough height for the pole to get deep enough so it is not wobbly. After exploring multiple options, I tried securing it with cables to the back of the ramp and it worked. Covering it with black and yellow tape added to the whole design of the installation. In the end we had a secure bar, which people could hold on to.

Sadly, when we tried the monitors for the hologram, they weren’t bright enough, so we had to think of other option. I got an advice from a classmate (Vasil Hristov) to try using projectors because they are brighter. We tried that out and it worked. The hologram was visible an we could use the inside of the installation to hide the projectors. I continued exploring how to achieve the best result possible using plexiglass and paper on the holes through which the projection of the projector goes.

Me, Sacha, Marieke and Indre put the final touches of the installation to make it look refined. We secured the wooden plates on the sides and the black corners that hide all the imperfections. I also made a small iteration on the door because it was too big and wouldn’t close. Therefore, I cut it and sanded it down.

I also created a wooden pole support for the "roof" of the big wooden box as well as support for the front of the ramp, where the thin wooden plate was sticking out.

Last, but not least, I created instructional stickers on how to use the installation which will be placed in the front and discount coupons for the skate shop.

This week was all about finishing touches and refining. I can say that when I see the installation now, I am extremely proud of our work.
