Week 6

Week 6 has ended and one of the best things of the project has started. The building part.

Because we still didn't know if were going to get money from sponsors we decided that we should buy some wood already. We did a lot of calculations and went to the Gamma.

None of us had a car so we biked to the store. Walked back with all the wood! Walked back to the store again to get the bycicle and biked back to school again.

When we were back I organized all the wood. The wood for the top part was separated form the bottom part and so on.

While building the installation I came to a nasty surprise... the wood that was pre-sawed at the store was not the right size because we didn't calculated the thickness of the wood inside the 3D model. Because of this, not everything fitted as it should.

Such a stupid mistake that I totally forgot to tell Sacha while she build the 3D model.

We had some left over wood and with this we could fix the parts that were to thin but that wouldn't be necissary if I told Sacha to keep that in mind.

Luckily that wasn't the only thing I did that week! I also went and programmed the touch board to variables in the project Sacha used for making the particles FX. This was reeeaaaly difficult and searched all over the internet to see how I could fix this.

After a day of searching, trial and error and more I decided to search help by one of the teachers. He helped me to change the variables and in approx 10 mins, everything worked.

After this Douwe helped me to make my code more clear and easier to read but to be honest I found the first code much more logical than what he wrote. The only advance was that I can map my data now in Processing and that would've been a lot more difficult than doing this in Unity.

I will upload a video of this ASAP

The last thing I've done is putting wheels underneath the installation. We made a baselayer and put wheels underneath it. We will put this baselayer with wheels underneath the installation this monday because we want to get some extra wheels for more weight distribution.
