Reflection

Project FAT was definitely the best project I’ve worked on together with Content Creation. The team was (sorry) fucking awesome. Respect and trust were one of the core values that we wanted to keep during this project and I thinks this worked out how we wanted!

Project:

The project itself was amazing. Tiring but awesome! Working on a project for 40 weeks a day represents the working field quite good and gives you a good in site of what the working field of Art & Technology can be!
Working on the project the teachers were a great help to almost everything and although they were very busy because everybody needed some teacher you needed to be quick and also sometimes find the solution yourself! This is actually really good because this means that you learn something yourself as well and not only let the teachers do stuff for you (most of the teachers only explain it and you still need to do it yourself.

The coaching lessons with Sarah were also suuuper helpful. Not only for yourself but also to give the team a boost or give them something to think about! Sarah was a super coach and would love to do more lessons with her.

Team:

Do I have anything bad to say about the team. I’m thinking of it the whole day and just can’t think of anything that I didn’t like in our team! Everybody was so nice too each other, there was never a negative thing said about anything and it was just a great project where I learned a lot of new friends who I can hopefully call friends now! I hope to see them after the minors, internships and even after school.
Shtilyan was a super creative mind and helped our branding really good! He choose a fantastic vibe for the whole project and create an awesome look and feel!

Rania did a super duper uber great job on the Instagram promotion and the firebase (like OMG) this was soooo hard, a lot of people were struggling with this.

Without Marieke the whole project wouldn’t even work. She took care of all the contact with sponsors, animations and some videos! Without the money of our sponsor we would never be able to build our installation and make this possible!

Sacha created such detailed 3D models! They were great and to be honest I didn’t actually expected anything else from her! She is an awesome member to have in a team!

And last but surely not least we have Indre! Wow, she meant so much for the team! Although she couldn’t always be there because of her work she did so much more than you could see! She made our whole website and man that would’ve been a pain in the ass to create if it was for me!

I’m so happy with how the project turned out, the team members and the of course all the help from the teachers!

Myself:

And now, reflecting on myself. Lets start of with the achievement of my learning goals. Yes I did!

My main goal was working on hardware and software and I got the chance to program the whole game in unity and learn more about C# and build the installation as well!

In case of software I learned some new basic stuff as well as creating my own state machines to use a scene manager and a lot more stuff in C#. I always talk about with some friends on CMGT about that I want to learn more about programming in C# and using Unity and this was the perfect chance to do this. I’ve spend hours and hours and then even more hours programming everything and I’m so thankful for the help that Yvens always gave me!

Hardware related I learned so much and failed so much as well. Finding solutions to fix the problems that I made and learning how to drill, saw and cut things at certain angles and use new tools! The coolest part to build was actually the ramp! I’m so proud of how it looks.
Programming and searching for the right sensors to use on the skateboard was fun to do but also a bit tiring sometimes. Especially at the end of the of the project because I thought I had it and it wasn’t good enough! But learning more about different sensors and other hardware related stuff is really good for me!

Maybe the learning goals don’t really fit my expectations of what I want to do after school (more focused on audio) but this is a great start to be an all-round player.

That brings me to the last thing. Being the scrum master.
Being scrum master was really fun to do. Because I’m quite organized and I almost every time know what is happing in the team this was a great job to do for me!
During my scrum master period I learned to give people tasks and deadlines. In the beginning I found this really hard to do because I looked to much at my own life but when the project progressed I dared to give more deadlines and tasks to people and this helped the project as well.

To wrap this up I want to say that I learned a lot during Sarah’s lessons about myself and how I deal with people. This is great to think about in the future for my minor, internships and other jobs!
