WEEK 2
Shtilyan, the lifesaver
In the beginning, the fact that Shtilyan was in Bulgaria was a bit frustrating. In the end, it turned out to be our solution to our problems. He, with a fresh mind, came up with an amazing concept inspired by Chaldni's technique. We then talked about it, and tried to implement this idea into our concept. We then decided to create an interactive installation with a hologram as well as sounds, that people can control with their hand movements.

Getting our concept clear was not an easy thing. We had to talk to a lot of professors, as well as Jacob - a super cool artist - and the owner of the skate shop in the city. We god a lot of inspiration, and we finally got our concept straight.
Week 1
Hi, My name is Shtilyan Peev and I am a member of team 8.
When I got introduced to the team, I was not present in the Netherlands, so I worked from distance. Communication from distance is always hard but we managed to figure it out. I was introduced to the ideas the team already came up with and was asked to help with thinking of new concept.

The direction the team headed was towards creating installation for music and art. Therefore I started thinking about how to combine these two different but in the same time intertwined subjects into one interactive experience.

I got inspired by Chladni experiments with sound. He basically found a way to visualize sounds by using sand and metal plate. This got me thinking about how can we translate that into an interactive installation.

What I came up with was a machine that uses distant sensors to create sounds and visuals on a screen. The visuals and sounds would change depending on x axes and the volume and speed of drawing of the figures would change on y axes.
The idea was well received and this is how I got involved in the project.
