WEEK 2
Shtilyan, the lifesaver
In the beginning, the fact that Shtilyan was in Bulgaria was a bit frustrating. In the end, it turned out to be our solution to our problems. He, with a fresh mind, came up with an amazing concept inspired by Chaldni's technique. We then talked about it, and tried to implement this idea into our concept. We then decided to create an interactive installation with a hologram as well as sounds, that people can control with their hand movements.
Getting our concept clear was not an easy thing. We had to talk to a lot of professors, as well as Jacob - a super cool artist - and the owner of the skate shop in the city. We god a lot of inspiration, and we finally got our concept straight.
week 8
On Monday we started painting!
after this was finished I dove a bit deeper in the settings for our visual.
We also asked Patrick Jonkman to be our sound creator, with his background in sounds and his style we thought that a creation from him would really fit our concept!
one is for our attraction state and the other on is for the interaction state. During this week I asked Patrick if he could maybe do something more with a difference in volume so the hologram would look more interesting because it mainly reacts to volume. Couldn't figure out how to change the interaction to pitches and bass.. But that is something for the future!
Besides this I got more "adventurous" in unity. I found something that would make our particle system way more interesting and way more abstract arty like we wanted.
With this project I really feel that I learn to discover more on my own, which makes me feel good!
Above all of this positive energy we also got much further with building the installation. It all really looks like it's coming to a, positive, end.
One small change, based on speaking with a teacher it would be more intuitive to interact with the skateboard. So that is something we changed. Max was able to fix someone who could help us making something to hold on to, for safety.
In the end it actually really fits the design and the concept.
